The work of Freemasonry is conducted in what
is called the Lodge. The word lodge as used in
Masonry has several different significations, as when we
speak of "A Lodge," meaning any lodge; another when we speak
of a lodge being opened or closed when we mean
the symbolic Lodge; again when we speak of a
particular society of Masons, as when we say
"Aldine Masonic Lodge #1412" There are also three different Lodges, the Entered Apprentice's Lodge; the Fellow-Craft's Lodge, and the Master-Mason's Lodge. Yet all three of the Lodges, though separate in their opening and closing, as well as in their respective work, are one. The one contains the three as will be well understood by the skillful craftsman. |
